The Historic Automobile Grand Prix started at Pezinská Baba

1000 Czechoslovak miles as the first event of this year's championship

The Czechoslovak 1,000-mile competition was the first part of this year's Grand Prix of Historic Automobiles championship for the President's Cup of the Auto Club of the Czech Republic. The series continues on the last Friday of August with the Bugatti GP Zlín competition and on the first weekend of September with the legendary Zbraslav–Jíloviště race.
The establishment of the Grand Prix of Historic Cars was initiated the year before by the Autoklub ČR and the organizers of traditional vintage competitions themselves. They declared their interest in diversifying and, in cooperation with the Autoklub ČR, increasing the attractiveness of their already high-quality races. The driving force of all those involved is the passion for historic vehicles and the support of this hobby. "We are renewing the tradition, the Autoklub was at the beginning and organized the famous 1000 Czechoslovak miles and Zbraslav–Jíloviště. With the championship, we continue this legacy and at the same time we want to support the current organizers in their efforts." stated the president of the Czech Auto Club, Jan Šťovíček. Autoklub ČR has taken on the role of an umbrella organization and sports authority, ensuring the supply of a time measurement system and evaluation of results, organizational and material equipment.
The competition is open for cars manufactured up to 1939. They compete in driving regularity, so they drive with time, not against it. Within 1000 Czechoslovak miles, so in II. In the Slovakian stage, a regularity run consisting of two runs measured with an accuracy of 0.01 seconds took place on the closed Pezinská Baba track. The difference between the two runs was assessed by penalty points. On the measured section of this regularity run, the maximum average speed was strictly limited to 55 km/h.
