Full text of the technical and safety requirements for motorcycles participating in track rides

This category includes historic racing motorcycles that existed until the end of 1978 and that were raced on the same date at the latest. Furthermore, detailed and accurate replicas of racing machines and machines subsequently converted into racing machines, according to the regulations of the time.

The rider is responsible for the technical condition of the machine from the time it enters the depot, during all rides until the end of the event.

Fuel and oil tanks

  • Fuel must be in a single tank securely attached to the motorcycle.

  • Every effort must be made to prevent spilled oil from being lost and endangering the following rider.

  • The motorcycle must be oil-tight, or it must be equipped with a device that prevents oil from leaking onto the track. All hoses, plugs and fittings in the oil system must be secured against loosening. Breathing from the engine and from the tank must be led into the collection tank.

  • The caps of the fuel and oil filler necks must not allow fuel or oil to escape when closed. In addition, they must be securely locked to prevent accidental opening.

Wheels, rims and tires

  • The tire must be mounted on the corresponding rim. The inner (supporting) part of the rim must not be deformed or damaged.

  • As a safety minimum, the smallest depth of the tread groove of 2.5 mm in the entire perimeter of the groove during the pre-start check is established. The tread pattern must be created by the manufacturer when manufacturing the tire.

  • The speed classification of the mounted tires must correspond to the maximum speed of the motorcycle.

Open gear covers

  • For all motorcycles, the primary gear, if freely accessible, must be provided with a cover for safety reasons. This cover must be designed so that the rider or passenger cannot accidentally come into contact with the transmission components. The cover must be designed to protect the rider from finger injury.

  • A chain cover is required for a sidecar if the secondary gear is not covered by a fairing.

  • The secondary chain cover must be mounted in such a way and in such a place as to prevent it from catching between the lower chain track and the rear wheel sprocket.

Exhaust pipes

  • The end of the exhaust pipe must be horizontal and parallel to the stress axis of the solo motorcycle (with a tolerance of +/-10°).

  • The exhaust gases must be blown towards the rear, but must not be blown in such a way as to raise dust, contaminate the tires or brakes, or annoy a potential passenger or other riders.

  • The rearmost ends of the exhaust pipes of a solo motorcycle must not extend further than the vertical tangent of the rear tire, provided that the exhaust system complies with the original homologation.

  • For a motorcycle with a sidecar, the exhaust pipe must discharge the exhaust gases horizontally and towards the rear at an angle of no more than 30o to the axis of the machine.

Handlebars

  • The open ends of the handlebars must be closed with a plug made of solid material or covered with rubber.

  • When using a fairing, the front wheel must never touch the fairing in any position of the handlebars.

  • Fixed steering stops (stops do not count as steering dampers) must be fitted to provide a minimum clearance of 30mm between the handlebars with levers at full travel and the fuel tank so that the rider cannot pinch their fingers.

  • The clamps attaching the handlebars must be carefully rounded and made in such a way as to prevent them from cracking.

Control levers

  • All control levers on the handlebars (clutch, brake, etc.) must end with a ball (minimum diameter of this ball must be at least 16 mm). The ball can be straight flattened, but its edges must in any case be rounded (minimum thickness of the flattened part 14 mm). These terminations must be permanently attached and form an integral unit with the lever.

  • Each control lever (hand and foot) must be mounted on a separate pivot.

  • If the brake lever is mounted on the axis of the footpeg, it must work at all times, even if the footpeg is bent or otherwise deformed.

Throttle control, position light

  • Throttle control must close automatically when not held by hand.

  • All motorcycles must be equipped with a red rear position light of min. effective area 1200 mm 2 and min. luminosity 40 lumens. (bulb min. 21 W). This light is turned on in reduced visibility at the command of the company director and must be on for the entire time of driving.

Fuel pumps

  • The electric fuel pumps must be connected via an ignition cut-off circuit, which will automatically turn off the ignition in the event of an accident.

  • For technical inspection purposes, electric fuel pumps must be equipped with a test device.

Steppers

  • The footboards can be foldable, but in that case they must be equipped with a device that automatically returns them to their normal position and there must be an integral protection at the end of the footboard with a radius of min. 8 mm.

  • Non-folding metal footrests must always be equipped with a permanently fixed plug made of plastic, Teflon® or a similar type of material (min. diameter 16 mm).

Brakes

  • Motorcycles and sidecars must have at least two effective brakes (one on each wheel), working independently of each other and concentrically with the wheel.

  • For a motorcycle with a trailer, a brake must be installed on the sidecar wheel.

Mudguards and wheel protection

  • The fenders must overlap the tire laterally on each side.

Motorcycle fairing

  • The front wheel, with the exception of the tire and the part hidden behind the mudguard, must be clearly visible from all sides.

  • No part of the fairing may protrude in front of a vertical plane drawn 100 mm in front of the axis of the front wheel. Fenders will not be considered fairing.

  • No part of the fairing may be located behind a vertical plane passing through the axis of the rear wheel and the rim of the rear wheel behind this plane must be clearly visible on a circumference of at least 180°. No part of the motorcycle may extend beyond the vertical plane passing through the rearmost point of the rear wheel.

  • Ailerons or spoilers may only be used on solo motorcycles if they are an integral part of the fairing or seat. They must not exceed the width of the fairing or the height of the handlebars. Sharp edges must be rounded with a radius of at least 8 mm.

  • The edge of the front protective shield and all protruding edges of the fairing must be rounded.

  • The rider in a normal riding position must be perfectly visible from both sides, from behind and from above, with the exception of the forearms (in the case of a sidecar, also the legs). The minimum distance between the rider's face or his helmet from the fairing (including the protective shield) must be 100 mm. It is forbidden to use transparent materials that would circumvent these regulations.

  • There must be a minimum clearance of 20 mm between the fairing and the ends of the handlebars or other steering system, including accessories mounted thereon, in each position of the handlebars.

  • For all four-stroke motorcycles equipped with fairings, the lower fairing must be designed to contain at least half of the total amount of oil and coolant used in the engine in the event of an engine crash. The lower edge of the opening in the fairing must be located at least 50 mm above the lower edge of the fairing.

  • The lower part of the fairing can be equipped with a maximum of two holes with a diameter of 25 mm. These openings must be closed in the dry and must be open during a "wet" race (WET RACE) if declared by the race director.

  • Only minimal modifications are allowed regarding the profile of the lower part of the fairing, but only to comply with this rule.

Helmets, protective clothing and footwear - rider and passenger equipment

  • motorcycles built before 1949 a one-piece leather suit or a two-piece leather suit, provided that the two parts are firmly zipped together

  • motorcycles made since 1950 one-piece leather suit

  • the following parts of the suit must be lined with at least a double layer of leather or foam padding with a minimum thickness of 8 mm: shoulders, elbows, hip joints, knees

  • we do not recommend linings and underwear made of synthetic material, which can melt and which can damage the rider's skin in the event of an accident

  • leather gloves and over-the-ankle boots, which together with the overalls provide full coverage of the rider's body from the neck down

  • non-leather materials may be used if inspected and approved by the Technical Commissioner for use.

  • homologated closed-type helmet with at least 05 marking. The helmet must be properly fastened, fit well and be in good condition. The helmet must have a "fastening system" chin strap. Helmets that in case of danger can be quickly and easily removed from the head just by loosening or cutting the chin strap.

  • we recommend non-flammable clothing including underwear and spine protectors

  • the question regarding the suitability and condition of the rider's (or passenger's) clothing, equipment and Helmet will be decided by the Technical Commissioner, who may, if necessary, ask for a consultation with the manufacturer of the part in question before making a final decision.

Control

  • The rider is responsible for his motorcycle at all times during the sporting event.

  • The technical inspection will be carried out only after the presentation of the technical card confirmed by the organizer (administrative acceptance).

  • The rider or his mechanic must come with the machine to the technical inspection by the deadline set in the Special Provisions. He can show only two motorcycles for the technical inspection, the accepted motorcycles will be marked (with a sticker) by the technical commissioner. At the request of the technical commissioner, riders must attend the technical inspection in person.

  • A participant who does not appear in person as prescribed above may be excluded from the rides. The race director can ban anyone who does not behave according to the regulations and any rider who may become a danger to other participants or spectators from participating in the races.

  • The technical inspection must be carried out according to the schedule specified in the Special Provisions. The maximum number of people participating in the technical inspection is the driver and two others.

  • If, during training or a race, the technical commissioner finds that a machine has a defect that could become dangerous for other riders, he will immediately notify the race director or his representative. It is their duty to exclude such a machine from the rides.

Administrative and technical acceptance:

Administrative acceptance: During the administrative check-in, the driver's license of the participants will be checked. Part of the administrative acceptance will be the confirmation of the participant's statement and the confirmation for carpooling, including the confirmation of the legal representatives. Furthermore, the registration of all participants in the list of insured persons will be checked. The payment of deposits will be checked and the relevant documents and markings will be handed over. Participants will receive a starting number and a mandatory advertisement by the organizer, according to the registered category and designation of persons. Participants in timed categories (not exhibition rides) will receive a transponder to measure times. The transponder will be issued against a refundable deposit of CZK 1,000. Participants place the transponder in a suitable manner on the racing machine. Participants will return the transponder after the event or before their departure.

Technical acceptance: During the technical inspection, the technical condition of the vehicle and the safety equipment of the participants will be checked. The technical condition of the vehicle must correspond to the design that corresponds to the given category and class. A vehicle in poor technical condition, e.g. with visible leakage of operating fluids, will not be accepted.
The use of a battery disconnector and fire extinguisher is recommended for competition and racing cars. Also, the fit of the seats and the quality of the safety belts, if the vehicle has historically been equipped with them, will be checked. There will be a check on the pasting of the starting numbers. The installation of transponders will be checked during the technical acceptance. During the technical inspection, the safety equipment of the riders will be checked. All motorcycle and car category riders will use a protective helmet during heats, a matching suit that will fully cover the rider's body (long sleeves and pants), gloves and sturdy shoes. In the category of cars, it is recommended to use a non-flammable coverall (also with approved homologation). Participants in open cars and motorcycles will use appropriate eye protection.
The same safety rules also apply to exhibition drives of racing and competition vehicles. Head and eye protection is recommended for exhibition drives of production vehicles. The same safety rules also apply to possible carpooling.

Business progress:

The race is run on the track according to the plan in the attachment
Regularity rides: The purpose of regularity runs is to achieve the smallest difference between individual measured laps in a given heat.
Familiarization rides: At the beginning of each day, familiarization rides will be organized for individual categories and classes.
Regularity rides: Participants will be lined up in the starting area. The start to the timed ride will be carried out individually in approx. 5-second intervals. Individual laps will be measured for participants during the heat. The start and finish of the race is fleeting. Classes in individual categories (motorcycles, sidecars, cars) complete one familiarization ride and two timed heats of approx. 12 to 15 minutes each day.
Exhibition rides: The purpose of the exhibition rides is to show the audience racing machines from the past and thus allow them to get acquainted with often rare, even museum exhibits. These rides are not measured and are not graded.
Flag signaling including electronic flags (semaphores): The marshals will signal an obstacle on the track with a yellow flag. If this flag is displayed, the race director may decide to repeat the heat. The stoppage of the heat will be signaled by a red flag. In the event of a stop, the start will be repeated. Exhibition rides will not be repeated. The end of the heat is signaled by a checkered flag.
